Browser Requirements

BROWSER REQUIREMENTS FOR GLOBAL TARIFF

Global Tariff requires the following:

  • Pop-up windows
    • Any pop-up blockers must be disabled, or
    • Global Tariff must be defined as a trusted site for your pop-up blocking software, or
    • If you use a blocker without trusted sites, you must (for most blockers) hold the "Control" key when clicking a button that produces a pop-up.

  • Java support for your browser (Sun Java Plug-In recommended)

If you do not know how to do check or adjust any of these settings, please contact your IT department for support.

BROWSER REQUIREMENTS DETAILS

For best performance with Windows, please ensure that you've been to Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) for the latest JVM (Java Virtual Machine) or Windows XP Service Packs, as applicable. At Visual Tariff we strive to deliver the best possible quality product, but with all Internet applications the client-side software (i.e. the web browser and its accessories) is a large part of the equation.

The Global Tariff HTML 4.01 is in CSS layer-based pages, using a Macromedia-developed method for its coding layers, with extensive Javascript, ColdFusion, and CFMX and Java/C++ component function calls returned in Javascript.

Pop-up blockers should be disabled. A number of application functions in Global Tariff produce display windows with Javascript, which services will be truncated by a pop-up blocker.

IF YOUR DISPLAY SHOWS OVERLAPPING FONTS

A result of using fixed-font CSS-based pages is that the type displayed will overlap if "large fonts" are enabled on the user's desktop. This is not the "View >> Text Size" setting in the browser, but rather the desktop display setting for Windows. If you have an overlapping font display, right click on your desktop for the Windows display properties panel, and change "Display Properties >> Settings >> Advanced" to "small fonts". Our Web page coding cannot override this Windows desktop setting if it is enabled.

Your Global Tariff performance will be significantly enhanced if you install the Sun Java Plug-In. The Java Plug-In is required to use the "Chapter" search application in Global Tariff, and a download button is provided on that page as well.
